Game 58: Knicks at Cavs

CAVS (11-47) 115, NEW YORK KNICKS (29-27) 109
at Quicken Loans Arena
RADIO/TV: WTAM/Fox Sports Ohio

WHAT HAPPENED: I guarantee there is a segment of fans who are starting to worry about the Cavs not having the worst record in the league. At 11-47, they are just 1 1/2 games ahead of 13-46 Minnesota for the worst mark in the NBA.

Now, the Cavs are adding Baron Davis, which could really mess things up (i.e., win).

The Cavs have won three of their last five games since snapping their NBA-record 26-game losing streak.

It's being accomplished on the defensive end. They really got after the Knicks last night. They held them to 41.9 percent shooting from the field and just kicked their butts on the boards, 62-42.

The Cavs' three new players, Davis, Luke Harangody and Semih Erden, are expected to report to the team on Saturday. They are expected to be available to play on Sunday vs. Philadelphia. There might have been a little snag on Davis' travel arrangements. He might not make it to Cleveland in time to practice on Saturday.

One could argue that Davis is an upgrade over Williams, but not by much. I think Williams is a better outside shooter. But when motivated, Davis can be quite good, in fact, but the key is to light a fire under him. Scott could be the guy to motivate him.

The Cavs have had their eye on Erden, a native of Turkey, for quite some time. The 6-11 center will likely get backup minutes behind J.J. Hickson. There are rumors that he wants to return to his homeland and also that he might need surgery on his shoulder.

We'll get to the bottom of it on Saturday at practice.
